The Bride Price by Buchi is an amazing read It takes you into the way of life of the people of an amazing culture, which in this case are the Ibo people of Nigeria and their approach to solemnization of marriages The historical aspect of the story is up to perfection The way the Ibo people treat woman is clearly depicted, and from this book, we have a sense of how much changes the people have undergone in their treatment of woman in the modern times Unlike before when the relatives of a dead hus [...]

I found this book to be an easy read, both funny and romantic Good job If you want to read a book that goes straight to your heart, read Stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. It is a beautiful story of unrequited love r certain the love story of the nineties I intended to give the book a quick read, but I got so caught up in the story that I couldn t put the book down From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart wrenching account of Julie Hunter s battle with lupus and her growi [...]

The Bride Price by Buchi Emecheta is an informative insight into the culture, traditions and history of the Nigerian peoples and as a whole, is well served as an introduction to the rich customs and heritages of Africans I must admit that the ending, while it was not necessarily suprising, was a bit disappointing and seemed to sort of fizzle out While the over all theme that I detected, that being the inability of the African people to remove themselves from their cultures, families and religiou [...]

This book makes the reader think seriously about the importance of preseving tradition in a changing world, and the high cost of that preservation.

I d read this book maybe in my 10th grade But I wanted to own it so I can reread it whenever I want It is a great story about superstitions and what happens when one goes against such beliefs It also depicts a beautiful love story I loved it.

This is engrossing but sad story that reflects the conflicts and contradictions between modern science and traditional beliefs Sadly, in many parts of the world there are still arranged marriages and required bride prices I wish the author had taken a different path.

I loved the sad ending which some made the story believable Can not wait to read her other books
