Sweet story about a girl s relationship with her grandfather that is a retired colonel from the Air Force I enjoyed the plot, the grandpa character, facts from the Guinness book of world records If it were a movie, it would be something like Grumpy Old Men That s what the grandpa reminds me of I read it because it is up for the William Allen White.

Middle schooler Samantha has to spend the summer with her grandparents, when she d rather be home hanging out with her friends She especially dreads the time she ll be alone with her grumpy, uncommunicative grandfather Is he trying to hide something She finds out his secret, and helps him realize his dream Includes a touch of romance.

This is a good, heart felt story about a girl s developing relationship with her grandparents If you are interested in airplanes at all, this book is for you, as Sam and her grandfather work together to build their very own plane for a competition.

A nice aviation themed book that explores a girl s relationship with her grumpy grandpa and blooming relationship with a neighborhood boy Also explores what it means to retire and how important it is to feel like you re living life and not just watching it.

Liked this one, maybe because I read it in one sitting But wasn t sure where it was headed, so enjoyed surprise aspects Also liked the little bit of romance between Sam and Billy Could easily incorporate the military alphabet into lesson, too.
