I m disappointed This book had so much potential I wanted to know how their stories ended, but all I got was some crap about tribal secrets I am tried of authors fishing for sequels I didn t expect a sequel to One Thousand White Women, so I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled across this advance readers edition It picked up the stories of some of the survivors from the first book, but this book was, for the most part, anticlimactic and a little on the dry side Perhaps Jim Ferguson should st [...]

I was generous giving this book 3 stars I loved 1000 White Women, loved it I couldn t wait for the sequel and up until the very last page was hoping to see a glimmer of what I loved about the first book I left confused and disappointed than ever Sadly, Fergus either needs to move onto a new tribe or perhaps a new story line Very disappointed.

I am so relieved to finally be done with this book It has taken me months to get through it since I only felt like reading a few pages of it every time I picked it up to read If I hadn t won it in a giveaway and felt obligated to write a review, I probably would have abandoned the book altogether If you were someone who loved Book 1 One Thousand White Women , you probably would like this book because they are so similar to each other For me, both books of this series seem really slow paced and a [...]

Meggie and Susie had a less than perfect childhood, which could explain why they ended up arrested for solicitation Without the promise of a bright future in the East, they signed up for the Brides for Indians program 1000 white women traded for 1000 horses These women were taken mostly from prisons, insane asylums, and the streets Meggie and Susie along with a handful of others made a new life for themselves on the plains, marrying Cheyenne boys and giving birth to daughters of their own Howeve [...]

This is a continuation of One Thousand White Women The story is just as compelling as the first book as the Indians try to survive the encroachment of the white soldiers onto their lands It s basically written by two women who kept ledgers throughout their arrival as Brides for Cheyennes and the subsequent battle between the Indians and the soldiers The ending makes you admire the Cheyennes who believe in shape shifting and the power of painting figures on their body and the ability of men flyin [...]

This wonderful audio was mind expanding and heartbreaking The journals of two white women who are participating in the brides for Indians program form the narrative basis A ragtag group of women has come west to participate in the program not knowing it has been canceled They learn from each other as they immerse themselves in the Cheyenne culture finding love and acceptance We see the Battle of Little Big Horn looming ahead and know the freedom and beauty of the Indian way of life is doomed.

I enjoyed this book because I love historical fiction and really liked One Thousand White Women, which we read in book club about 15 years ago The story did fill in some of the things that left me wondering after the first book ended, which was nice However, the ending was not very satisfying and the characters were stereotypical caricatures I would recommend it to those who read the first book because it s an easy read and I was entertained.

What a great book I loved the story, even though it isn t a true story some of the events did occur I loved the main characters and was happy to catch up on the other characters from the first book, One Thousand Women The ending wasn t what I really wanted, but it lets you draw your own conclusion.

A solid 4 stars, maybe not 4.5 but at least 4.25 in my books Enjoyed just as much as his first book, One Thousand White Women, The diaries of May Dodd Somewhat lighter in tone to other books I ve read about Native Americans That being said, the underlying story of what was done to the Native Americans is the dark underbelly of this story.

I loved 1,000 White Women Jim Fergus book The Vengeance of Mothers is stunning I read it in one day and I couldn t put it down It brought tears to my eyes and when I finished the last page all I could think was please don t be done Do whatever you have to do to read this book It s wonderful.

Woah What just happened No spoilers, but about 2 3 of the way through I was going to give up and I m very, very glad I didn t 4 stars because the middle third of the book should be about a quarter of the length.

The incorrect historical reference to a child wanting a bicycle in timeframe of 1870 s spoiled the book for me Some simple research on bicycles indicates that they were not even manufactured for children until the 1920 s.

I just loved OTWW and I really enjoyed this book It is a continuation of OTWW through the diaries of two of the former brides, Meggie and Molly The story continues with the same excitement and hardships as in the first book Great story line and I liked the way it ended.
