This is one of the most compelling reads this year for me No, for the last few years and, I read a lot The characters, the story line and trying to accurately anticipate the end point Yes, I failed at that I was, however, involved from the first page Scary, great, compelling Buy this book, an unexpected find for me.

My favorite book of 2015 Beautifully written, couldn t put it down The story is so different from anything I ve read and the relationship between woman and dog melted my heart The crime is horrifying and the ending is spot on There are people who were unsatisfied with the ending because it felt like things were left up in the air I disagree, the scenario in my head completed the book perfectly.

Yes the story has holes or at least avenus unexplained But it caught me up and dragged me along Maria commits a terrible crime on the spur of the moment but you have to sympathise She s spent a lifetime sleepwalking and finally snaps There is a lot of description of the moors as others have commented But it fits in building the atmosphere A great gothic novel Nesser writes a strong suspense novel and I recommend him as one of the top Swedish thriller writers.

Outstandingly original suspense here Real personality development of protagonist A few loose ends not threaded together at the end but well worth reading Nesser is in a class of his own.
